The history of Halloween

The word Halloween comes from All Hallow's Eve. Contrary to popular belief, Halloween is originally an Irish Celtic festival, not an American one. The tradition dates back more than 3,000 years, and marked the first day of the Celtic calendar year, which ended on October 31. Halloween night was therefore the night of the God of Death.

A little later, following the migration of the Irish to the United States, Halloween took on an international dimension, as it is now considered a national holiday in the USA.

A few tips for a successful Halloween party

N°1: Stock up on candy. Halloween is a way of celebrating a return to childhood. The rest of the year, we refrain from eating sweets, so on this day they'll be welcome to satisfy all your guests, as well as any neighbor children who dare to come and ring the doorbell.

N°2: Choose a good wine. To enjoy your pumpkin dishes, you can serve wines that are delicately sweet and mouth-watering. Discover new flavors with unexpected food and wine pairings!

Choose "Papa Figos" red Porto with warm accents, revealing fine notes of sweet red fruit and spices that will pair perfectly with autumnal flavors, or "Andresen" white Porto with aromas of oriental orange, dried apricot and hints of green walnut.

Are you more of a sweet white wine drinker? In that case, let yourself be enchanted by Gewurztraminer, a tender wine with notes of exotic fruit and gingerbread, ideal for pairing with pumpkin soup.

N°3: Prepare a gourmet meal. As all great fans of the festival know, this meal has to be as tasty as possible! That's why you should always cook seasonal vegetables, whether pumpkin or pumpkin, and use sauces with a "bloody" flavour, such as tomato coulis.

N°4: Decorate your home or garden with seasonal vegetables. Pumpkin, turnip or even pumpkin, a pretty selection of vegetables that you can customize for an autumn decoration. And here's a tip: don't forget to make Halloween recipes with the leftovers from your decorations, so you don't waste anything!
