For some time now, many restaurants have been offering wine and food pairing menus to avoid the need to order several bottles of wine, and to ensure a perfect match from starter to dessert. Under the impetus of passionate sommeliers, new addresses are offering less traditional pairings where wine is no longer the only accompaniment to dishes.
Wine and food pairing menus
Les 110 de Taillevent in Paris
This wine bar offers no fewer than 110 different wines by the glass, kept in temperature-controlled display cases. The à la carte menu features dishes in the center and wines on either side, from the most affordable to the most prestigious. The a la carte prices are nevertheless quite expensive: between €60 and €80.
Ô Vins d'Anges in Lyon
Every month, this Lyonnais wine cellar invites one of its top chefs to officiate at dinner. The result is a perfectly orchestrated menu of five wines and five courses. All for under €50. Reservations are essential. The ideal opportunity todiscover natural wines, with no added sulfites.
Cocktail menus
Pasdeloup in Paris
The small kitchen and two bars work in tandem with the cocktail and plate proposals. A section of the menu is specially dedicated to pairings, from aperitif to cheese. Prices remain affordable, but dishes are of uneven quality.
Dersou in Paris
Here, dishes and cocktails are created by the chef to ensure a perfect marriage of taste. Each flavor is designed to combine, intertwine and challenge each other. The result is quite stunning, but the bill is rather salty. The restaurant also offers a fine selection of bottled wines.
Beer and food pairing menus
La fine mousse in Paris
Here, the menu is in the "tapas spirit", with small plates to share that can be paired with the forty or so draught or bottled beers on offer. For wine lovers, however, the selection is limited to just a few references.
Le Triangle in Paris
A family establishment, the brother cooks, the sister works in the dining room and the husband brews the house beer. Le Triangle also offers 8 craft beers from France, Belgium, the UK and Japan. A warm welcome and affordable prices.
